As many of you know, a lot of people are moving out of New Jersey. But where are they going, stick around and find out.

My name is Cori and I’m a real estate agent who helps people relocate into and out of beautiful Monmouth County.  As your Marlboro Township resident, I love sharing information all about the area that I love!

If you want to know everything there is to know about the area including living, working, playing, eating, drinking, relaxing, having fun, go ahead hit that subscribe button, tap on that little bell icon and you will be among the first to know when I put out a new video each and every monday!

New Jersey, we are currently tied for the number 1 exodus state in the entire country.  Yup, it’s true.   We get to share that amazing title with California and New York.  Which is a little odd to me, considering there are SO many people moving in from New York that we actually have an inventory shortage.  I mean you can’t find a house in Marlboro Township and surrounding areas of Monmouth County.  So why are so many current residents of NJ Leaving?  Well that’s a whole other topic for another day.  And, I will get to that in an upcoming video.  But for now, People are leaving the garden state, but where are they going when they pack up all their belongings and make a move?

There are a few places that seem to be attracting people from New Jersey.  Welcome to my series of where are people going.  Each week,  I will highlight an area in our country that New Jerseys are relocating too.  I’ll also give you the information of a top notch agent in that area in case you want to find out more information about that location.

Let’s start off my new series with one of the biggest hotspots in the country now for people relocating.  Can you guess where?  Well i’ll tell you, it’s Georgia.  Not just anywhere in Georgia but the Savannah area.  Why you may ask?  Well that’s a great question and to answer that is a Karin Carr a real estate agent with Georgia Coast Homes.  Let’s see what people are flocking to her area?

Well there’s a couple of pretty obvious reasons.

Number 3

The weather in the winter. It’s so much better than in New Jersey. Yes it’s true, in Savannah we get a freak snowstorm once every seven years or so it’s maybe a quarter of an inch and it doesn’t really stick. In the north georgia mountains you’re going to get some snow but for most of georgia we’re talking the temperatures during the day are in the 40s and 50s. On a warm day it’s going to be in the 60s. It’ll get down into the 30s overnight, but like winter weather here means not wearing your flip-flops and actually wearing closed-toed shoes. “Alexa what is the temperature right now in savannah,”, ” right now in savannah georgia it’s 63 degrees fahrenheit tonight expect a low of 55 degrees” So if you want to get rid of your snowblower and quit shoveling the driveway all the time georgia is the place for you!

oh my gosh i hate it when i get notices from the tax assessor’s website

Number 2

Low Property Taxes I can’t believe our property taxes are going up again! $3,800 a year! Are you kidding me? Yes it’s true, our property taxes here are so low compared to New Jersey. I hate to rub your nose in it but i’m just saying we do not pay $15,000 a year for property taxes. Gosh even a mansion on the ocean probably would not have property taxes that high and if you just live in a suburban house in a neighborhood you might be looking at $2,500 a year or $3,000 a year. It depends on the cost of the house and it depends on the size of the house of course. But as a good rule of thumb we usually estimate that your property taxes will be one percent of the purchase price so if you buy a $300,000 house you could expect that your property taxes would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,000 a year. NOT TO SHABBY.

NUMBER 1

Cost of living! The number one reason why anybody would move to savannah from new jersey is the housing prices the cost of living.I just listed a property this morning for $269,000. It is only two years old, it has four bedrooms two and a half bathrooms. It backs up to a golf course, it has a fenced backyard, it’s in a wonderful subdivision it’s in a very desirable school district it’s close to shopping, all the things for $269,000. Nnow if you were able to sell your house in New Jersey and just took the equity, you could probably pay for this house with cash and then you would have no mortgage payment. And with the drastically reduced property taxes and no port mortgage payment what would your quality of life be like? Think about it! So if you’ve thought about moving to savannah, y’all need to come on down here because we’ve got :Paula Deen, we’ve got the beach, we’ve got seafood and it’s dirt cheap in comparison to where you live. oh and by the way our restaurants are open, just saying!

Thank you all for joining me this week in my new series called “Where’s everybody from New Jersey going”, and a special thanks to Karin Carr down in Savannah Georgia for sharing some of the reasons why so many people are flocking to her area.

I’ll be back next monday with another episode of “Where’s everybody going” and we’ll explore another part of the country together!
