Manasquan A Fantastic Little Shore Town
Manasquan is a great family town, located on the Jersey Shore. Manasquan is a wonderful place to live, raise a family and enjoy the beaches, downtown shops and wonderful eateries. This town has it all, a one mile beach on the Atlantic Ocean, the Manasquan River for boaters and fisherman.
The borough’s name is of Lenape origin, variously described as deriving from “Man-A-Squaw-Han” meaning “stream of the island of squaws”, “an island with enclosure for squans”, “island door” or “point” / “top”.
New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Manasquan as its 22nd best place to live in its 2008 rankings of the “Best Places To Live” in New Jersey.
Due to its location bordering the Atlantic Ocean, the population of Manasquan increases dramatically in the summer months as tourists flock to the beach. The Manasquan Inlet provides surfers with waves that are corralled, refracted and enlarged by the jetty protruding out into the Atlantic Ocean. There is a downtown area with many small businesses and has lost many of the bars once located in its borders. When people think about Manasquan, the first thing that comes to mind is the fabulous beach. Manasquan Beach offers Adult (ages 17-64) season badges for $80, Senior season badges for guests 65 and older for $25, Junior season badges for guests between 12 and 16 years old for $35. Proof of age is required for Junior and Senior badges. Weekly badges for adults are $40. Daily badges are sold at each of our 17 beach access locations for $9. Active US Military personnel and their families are admitted to all our beaches free of charge (ID required). Veterans (not families) are admitted free, too! Beach guests with a handicap are admitted at ½ price.
Manasquan School District
The Manasquan Public Schools serves students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The two public school buildings are across from each other on Broad Street, with Board of Education offices next door to the high school. The Roman Catholic-affiliated St. Denis School served youth from pre-school through 8th grade under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Trenton.
